WRBB’s First General Meeting of the Year! Wednesday Sept 15th 8pm @CSC 318

This is the single most important meeting for new DJs to find out how to go about comping for WRBB. Returning DJs must attend to get priority for their show request; we have a lot to update you guys on (especially if you’ve been gone a while), so don’t miss it. The first part of the meeting will be newbies + veterans, then we’ll let the vets leave so we can orient the newbs.

Welcome to the new WRBB Homepage

Hello, and welcome to the new WRBB homepage. We hope you enjoy the new features we have here; please feel free to register for an account (top right) so that you may leave comments on the various posts around the site.

The first things you should notice are all at the top of the page under our logo: the navigation bar contains some new additions

-Calendar: This calendar will be your place to check to see if there are any upcoming meetings, events, or otherwise coming up. Peek here often, or subscribe to the Google Calendar through your Husky email account for timely updates!

-Events & Concerts: If looking at the calendar is too laborious, all of our upcoming concerts will be posted here with their relevant flyers in summary form.

-Music Blog: The blog formerly located at wrbbmusic.wordpress.com will now be located here on wrbbradio.org! If you’d like to contribute, sign up for a wrbbradio.org account and email music@wrbbradio.org to ask for permission to post.

-Show Requests: Possibly the niftiest addition is the direct embedding of the electronic show request form! Now you merely need to click in the Navigation pane to start filling out the Show Request form for RETURNING DJs (for DJs who have not attended training, please don’t fill this out until after you’ve been to the first General Meeting and been trained. See the calendar page for details on the General Meeting).

Old favorites that have been renovated include the Schedule tab, which no longer redirects to Spinitron, saving you clicks, and the Contact page, which has been spiffed up substantially. To the right you’ll find the Twitter feed, Request-a-DJ button, and hotlinks for the various post types. Woohoo!

Please give feedback on the new site and any errors you may encounter. We do appreciate the help!

Now, for some news: Read more…

Nine for 2009

In no particular order/rank here are seven albums that came out last year that are worth checking out, and two that just aren’t.

Keep your eyes peeled for 10 more albums for 2010 as soon as those December releases get in my hands. Read more…

An Open Letter to the Music Industry: Top 3 Worst Albums of the Decade

Dear Music Industry,

I forgive you.

There, I said it. I forgive you for your offenses. I suppose you want an explanation, especially considering both my and Andy’s recent compliments on some of the fine music you’ve provided my ears over the past ten years. But, quite frankly, that barely validates some of the crap you’ve assaulted my ears with. You need a list? Fine, but know this is in no way exhaustive, and in no particular order. You see, I’ve been Music Director for eight months, and, while I’ve been on the forefront of discovering such beauties as Passion Pit’s Manners and Phoenix’s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, I’ve had to slog through some crappy music. So much crap that takes crappiness to such a new level that if I even tried to be exhaustive or create some sort of crap hierarchy, my brain would melt. I’ll be updating this list as I get pissed off, so check back often. Read more…
