New Album: “Hope” by The Strumbellas

Be prepared to forget the existence of every single song because “Spirits” is guaranteed to be stuck in your head on repeat. Six-piece Canadian Acoustic folk band, The Strumbellas, have released their third album, Hope, today April 22, 2016.

Their single release “Spirits” has been getting fans and radio stations hyped for the Canadian Invasion. The song is filled with a catchy and tuneful couplet that will have you singing along by the first chorus: “I got guns in my head and they won’t go / Spirits in my head and they won’t go” While the song is simply structured with a repeated chorus, “Spirits” is extremely rich in instrumental accompaniments that will make you want to get up and clap along. That’s the vibe that The Strumbellas are going for, which is emphasized in the music video release of “Spirits.” The initial concept of the video is based on a celebration-style funeral filled with music and bright colors that takes place on the streets. Don’t be mistaken, though, as “Spirits” has an incredibly deeper, more though-provoking meaning to its lyrics. In an interview with songwriter Simon Ward (vocals, guitar), he states that “Spirits” is about “fighting your inner demons.
