On May 27, the four-piece alternative pop band, The Aces, performed on the Happy Valley Red Stage at Boston Calling. While dressed in business chic matching outfits, they came in to perform with a lot of pumped up energy. They even shared the spotlight by encouraging fans to sing along while they sang their past and current hits. During their set, The Aces demonstrated a fun and light-hearted side to their stage presence by exchanging jokes with the crowd and singing a playful-sounding cover of “My Generation” by The Who.

Their set included tracks like “My Phone is Trying to Kill Me” and “New Emotion,” from their sophomore album Under My Influence. The Aces also didn’t leave out “Stuck,” a single from their debut album, When My Heart Felt Volcanic. Still, they made special introductions to their latest record, especially for the title track “I’ve Loved You For So Long,” which they emphasized relates to the special bond they’ve forged since their start as a band. Cristal Ramirez, one band member, even chipped in during their set, by saying, “Very quickly, I began to realize this song is about our band.”
The Aces showing off their musicality and pure talent isn’t anything new. With the release of I’ve Loved You For So Long, they’re definitely up to big things and Boston Calling was just the beginning to their upcoming successful season.
